We plan, shoot, design, edit and deliver video content for websites, press launches, facebook posts and twitter feeds.
WE CAN MAKE VIDEOS FOR YOU TOO.
Just call us or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to start the conversation about how we can make outstanding video content for you and your clients.
We're based in Cardiff, Wales, UK and if you're looking to get a video made, we're good people to talk to. Our background is in TV production and marketing, bringing the skills of storytelling and concise messaging to the short-form videos you can see below.
We also make TV and Radio programmes.
WE MADE THIS FOR CHILDREN IN NEED
This is an example of a film which manages to convey a compelling message in a short space of time. Shown on BBC One to encourage viewers to donate to BBC Children in Need.
WE MADE THIS FOR EFFECTIVE PR
Anthem is a new fund to support music in Wales - our client managed the press launch and we filmed the event for use on the Anthem website. This two minute video includes interviews with key guests and a music performance from Into the Ark.
WE MADE THIS FOR CARDIFF MET UNIVERSITY
Another example of the sort of videos we make for our clients - this one launched a new Masters course at Cardiff Metropolitan University. We shot this in one day, added music, graphics and extra footage in the edit to make this version which spread the word on social media via Facebook, and other longer versions for the course website.
WE MADE THIS FOR THE BBC
This film about a choir for people with dementia and their carers was a key element for the 'Get Creative' initiative from BBC Cymru Wales and the Arts Council of Wales. It was shot in one evening and we made versions for the BBC Arts website, Facebook and Twitter. It's an example of how we try to make content that will connect and engage with viewers - in this case the story of the good that can come from singing together.
We made this video for a group of local fundraisers
This video of a charity event is designed for posting on Facebook. It's in a square format to fit mobile devices and subtitled so that it can be viewed without sound. It's fun to watch, but conveys a key message too.
We made this 'explainer' video for students
Our client came to us with a tricky brief - make a video to show to new students, letting them know about their Alumni scheme, and the need to sign up to take part. Our solution was to make an animation which would keep the students engaged and have visual interest throughout.
how long does it take?
If you need it tomorrow - we can do it. We started our careers in live TV and so we're used to working to a deadline. We'll always deliver. A lot of our clients want video for social media very soon after the shoot, and we can edit overnight if need be. Generally we will meet with you, come up with a plan of action, set a date with you for the filming and deliver within a week of the shoot.
how much will it cost?
Most short films can be shot in one day and edited in a few days including adding graphics, music and voiceover if required. Costs will vary from project to project, and will increase if more people are needed, but for a film which is shot in one day with a small crew, a guide price is around £2500. That's including the edit and delivery - and a license for any music used.
do i need a script?
No. We work with you and guide you through the whole process. We meet up with you to find out exactly what you need, who you are aiming the film at and where it will be shown. We then usually write an outline for the content of the film, which we discuss with you to make sure we're on the right track, After that, we prepare a shooting script, finalise the filming details and basically take on all the aspects of the production - and we keep you informed and able to change things all the way to the final edit.
HOW DO I SEE WORK IN PROGRESS?
After our initial edit stage we produce a 'rough cut' of the film so far. We send you a private link to the rough cut which you can view online and send on to colleagues for feedback. We then take on board your amendments and suggestions and we make a 'fine cut' of the film. At this stage we usually add finished graphic elements, captions and subtitles. We'll also do a fairly complete sound mix on this fine cut. You can then view this online via the same private link, and get back to us with any final tweaks.
HOW DO YOU DELIVER THE VIDEO?
Once everyone is happy, we prepare the final cut and sound mix. We then send you a download link for you to take our high quality file and upload it to your website or server. Or we can deliver a file on USB drive or even on a DVD if required. If you have any last minute change like needing to add someone's job title, or if for instance you decide to subtitle the whole film, it's easy for us to make changes very quickly, usually within a couple of hours, especially if delivery is by online download.
WHAT EQUIPMENT HAVE YOU GOT?
We have our own state of the art edit and audio finishing facility. We also have our own cameras and lenses and we often hire in cameras which are specific for your project. We work with talented and experienced crews and we know lots of people who can help us get the right shots for your particular film. We usually work in HD quality as this is perfect for online video, but we can film in 4k and beyond if desired.
do you work in Welsh?
We regularly make films with Welsh language content and have a Welsh-speaking producer who can be there on location to conduct interviews in Welsh and edit the content afterwards. There's an example video above.
WHAT ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA?
We can easily make versions of videos for facebook and twitter - often designed to be viewed on a smartphone without sound. Talk to us about what you need and we can plan this into the project and include it in our quoted price. Watch an example of a facebook version.
DO YOU ALWAYS FILM SOMETHING?
Not always. If a video will work better as an animation for instance, we can do that instead of filming live action. You can see an example of that above.
why small and clever?
We think it's good to be small and clever. It means we can offer you all the same things that big companies can, while being incredibly flexible and competitive on price. There are lots of things which we think are small and clever - like the original Mini, or a Star Trek communicator, or Wales, which is a small, clever nation and that's the inspiration for our name.
